In a written response to a German news agency, the German activist group claimed responsibility for an attack on Tesla's German factory this week.
Tesla's German factory was hit by a major power outage this week. Police in the state of Brandenburg confirm this to CNBC .
And you can actually get a step closer to an explanation. To the German news agency dpa, the left-wing activist group 'Vulkangruppen' states that it is behind the attack.
In any case, the group takes the blame for the attack, which means that Tesla's German production has been idle since very early Tuesday morning this week.
Minister of the Interior in the state of Brandenburg, Michael Stübgen, calls the attack perfidious. He calls it not just an attack on Tesla but the entire infrastructure of the state.

– Should the first findings be confirmed, it is a perfidious attack on our electricity infrastructure, said Stübgen, according to dpa.
It is not known whether the activists are related to another activist group, which calls itself Robin Wood. But among its members, 80 people have occupied a forest near Tesla's German factory.
The activists fear that the forest will be cleared in connection with Tesla's expansion plans. Right now, the car brand can build 500,000 cars a year at the only European factory.
The brand hopes to double that with an expansion of the factory. However, Tesla does not only face criticism from activists. There are also critical voices among the local population. Read more about that case here .
