The Formula 1 car with license plates – Mercedes-AMG One – costs 20 million kroner. A billionaire has now been cheated out of all his money and more than ever.
American Michael Mente has reportedly been cheated out of 20 million kroner in a deal for a Mercedes-AMG One.
There has never been an AMG One that the fashion billionaire could afford. At least not really.
This is written by the media The Denver Post .
According to the media outlet, Michael Mente jumped at the chance when he was offered an AMG One in 2021. The lawyer who offered the fashion billionaire the car claimed to be based in Colorado, from where he had contact with a French car dealer.
The first alarm bells should have been ringing at this point. But not for Michael Mente. Instead, he chose to strike out to get the space that the "French car dealer" claimed to have at the AMG factory in Affalterbach.
Billionaire isn't the first to be scammed out of a Mercedes-AMG One
The price for the car was agreed at 5.4 million dollars or 37 million Danish kroner. Almost twice as much as the car costs from the factory.
Today, all the money is gone and the car is nowhere to be seen. It probably never existed. Because behind what turned out to be a scam is actually a con artist from Texas.
However, he is so 'good' at his job that Michael Mente is not the only one who thought an AMG One was within reach.
In 2023, another victim, who also believed the car existed, took the Texan fraudster to court to get the large sum of money back.
According to court documents obtained by The Denver Post, Mente is now trying to get all of his money back. But it could be more than difficult.
Because already in 2022, the US Department of Homeland Security informed him that all the money was gone. However, where it went more precisely is uncertain.
When we say that the Mercedes-AMG One is a Formula 1 car with license plates, we mean it literally. The car's 1.6-liter V6 engine is taken directly from Mercedes' Formula 1 program.
Unfortunately, only 275 copies of the car with a total of 1,063 horsepower will be built. However, Mercedes can't possibly gather that many for a 'reunion' in front of the factory. At least one of the cars has broken down. Read more about it here .
